Change afoot at the Reserve

The New Year saw some staffing changes at St. Abbs, with the appointment of Georgia Conolly as the new Marine Ranger.
Liza Cole, who has been the Marine Ranger for the past 4 years, has been caretaking the role since October, when she officially took over the reins as Property Manager for the St. Abbs Head National Nature Reserve. Georgia has now joined Liza to assist her in managing the Marine Reserve and Nature Reserve.
Georgia, originally from East Sussex, moved to the Scottish Borders at the beginning of January, coinciding with the worst snow the area has seen in 30 years, and she was snowed in for 6 days the day she moved in! The weather hasnt dampened her spirits or enthusiasm for her new job though, and she has got straight down to work organising an events schedule for whats set to be a busy spring and summer. Georgia says, I feel very honoured to be working in this incredibly beautiful area, at the forefront of marine conservation in Scotland. I look forward to working with locals and visitors alike to ensure the continued success of the Marine Reserve for the next 25 years.
Georgia has spent the past 18 months working for the National Trust in East Sussex as a Coastal Warden, and prior to that she was working as a scuba diving Instructor in the Red Sea for 2 years.
