Thar she blows!

A humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) was spotted just off St Abbs Harbour on the morning of Sunday 15th February. It hung around for 5 minutes or so, long enough for a small audience of locals to enjoy seeing it lift its tail fluke out of the water and roll on its side and slap a fin on the water - all common behaviour for humpbacks. Luckily one local, Dave Robson, was able to get some photos of the spectacle.
Not a common sighting anywhere around the British Isles, this was yet another first to be recorded within the Marine Reserve! What a year, and what will be seen next!
