Dolphins sighted off the Head
A pod of at least 9 bottle-nosed dolphins was spotted off St Abbs today, and for once the local jungle telegraph was working fast enough and the dolphins hung around long enough for a good few folk to see them!
They were first spotted by local dive skipper, Pete Gibson in the bay at St Abbs. He raised the alarm and said that the dolphins were swimming towards St Abb's Head. Luckily the dolphins, who appeared to be a family party, were taking their time so a group of half a dozen people managed to catch up with them at the Head and watched them for twenty minutes of so until they swam out of sight. As usual, I managed to miss this fabulous spectacle, but it does go to show that it is always worth keeping one eye on the sea, whatever the time of year.
Vice Chair of the VMR, Jack Laws, had his camera with him and managed to get a picture of the pod. They were a fair distance away, but you can get the gist!
