Gunsgreen House Facilities
New facilities for visiting yachtsmen and boat owners are now available in
Gunsgreen House. These modern facilities, along with the new deep water harbour
basin which is accessible at all stages of the tide, is making Eyemouth a welcome
haven for many yachtsmen sailing along the coast.
Gunsgreen House is an imposing Georgian building on the south side of Eyemouth
harbour. The yachtsmens facilities are part of the first phase of a redevelopment
programme by Gunsgreen House Trust. Money to finance this stage has come from
the EU, Scottish Enterprise Borders, Scottish Borders Council and several smaller
trusts.
Showers and toilets have been installed in part of the basement. The former kitchen
now contains a sink unit, a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a small freezer.
There is also an area where people can sit and wait, if there is a queue for the
showers. The whole space has been attractively decorated and furnished.
Yachtsmen will be offered the use of these facilities for a reasonable charge
when they pay their harbour dues. Entry to the basement facilities is by a coded
security system, and the entrance is located at the rear of the House, close by
the South-west corner.
