Dear All,
Just a quick note to say hello and introduce myself to you all. My name is Liza Cole and I am the new Marine Ranger, having now been in post for just over a month. I would agree with various comments on the discussion forum in that this offers a great opportunity for us all to share our experiences and sightings in the VMR and I welcome any info that you want to post on it!
What news from me? Well, the Splash In is drawing near (the August Bank Holiday Weekend) so that's taking up a lot of my enerfies at the moment. Rules have just been posted on the website for those who are interested.
Also, I would like to ask all you guys to carry on the sterling work with gathering data on Wolf-fish again this year if you would. I have updated the form, and it is downloadable from the website too! I've yet to see one but, as I haven't managed to get in diving as much as I might like as yet, that's not really surprising!
Any other interesting sightings too. For instance, I was talking to some divers down at the Harbour at the weekend who had seen John Dory and a Tadpole Fish...nice!
There has also been an unconfirmed sighting of a basking shark off the head (as well as one not far north of us) and a few cetacean sightings also. So, plenty to look out for!
I will stop waffling on now, but if you see me loitering around the Harbour (wild hair, green National Trust for Scotland uniform) please do come and have a chat and let me know what you've seen!
Happy Diving!
Liza.
